The Barcelona Knowledge Hub (AE-BKH) was pleased to host the 31st Annual Conference of the Academia Europaea (AE) and 8th of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE), “Building Bridges 2019“, held on the 23th and 25th of October 2019.

The morning of first day of the conference, held at the Institute for Catalan Studies (IEC), consisted of Parallel Academia Europaea Class sessions. In the afternoon, at the Ateneu Barcelonès, took place the Welcome to New Members of the AE and the YAE, followed by the Erasmus Medal and 2019 Heinz-Nixdorf Foundation Erasmus Lecture 1 and Lecture 2. That night was celebrated the President’s Dinner at the Norai restaurant. On the second day, at the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), the Balzan Lecture 1 and Lecture 2, the COST Lecture 1 and Lecture 2,  the Academia Europaea Distinguished Lecture, the Building Bridges 2019 Distinguished Lecture, the 2019 Young Academy of Europe Andre Mischke Prize and a Discussion panel organised by the YAE took place, followed by Close and departing drinks. Finally, dozens of delegates participated in the traditional Post-Conference Field Trip on the 25th of November, which featured a visit to the medieval city of Montblanc and a Traditional Catalan lunch and a guided tour of the monastery of Poblet.
