Irish pSeamusHeaneyoet Seamus Heaney died August 30, 2013, aged 74.

Heaney was an honorary member of the Academia Europaea and, among other prizes, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature “for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past”.

A member of Aosdána, Seamus Heaney was also a writer and translator, and had been a lecturer in Harvard and Oxford.
