On the occasion of the 15th ALLEA General Assembly held in Oslo on the 25th of April 2014, the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities has approved the admission of the Institute for Catalan Studies as a new member.
ALLEA (an acronym for ALL European Academies) was founded in 1994 and gathers 58 Academies of Sciences and Humanities in more than 40 European countries. ALLEA seeks to promote the exchange of information and experience between Academies, offer European science and society advice from its Member Academies, and also strive for excellence in science and scholarship, high ethical standards and independence from political, commercial and ideological interests via its Member Academies.
The Institute for Catalan Studies hosts the Barcelona Knowledge Hub office of the Academia Europaea in its building and is one of its collaborating institutions.
